The Uganda National Medical Stores, commonly referred to as National Medical Stores (NMS), is a government-owned organisation in Uganda.National Medical Stores is Mandated to Procure, Stores & Distribute Essential Medicines and Medical Supplies to all Public Health Facilities in the Country. This mandate then grew to serve 100% of government health facilities including the police, army and prisons. In August 2012 this mandate was further expanded to the distribute Vaccines across the country.National Medical stores was established as a Statutory Corporation in 1993 by Act of Parliament, under Chapter 207 of the Laws of Uganda

Joint Medical Store is a private-Not-For Profit (PNFP) Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that was established in 1979 as a joint venture between the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB). We are duly registered as a corporate body under the Trustees Incorporation Act, Cap-165 and under the NGO Registration Amendment act, 2006. We are also licensed by the National Drug Authority to engage in importing, exporting, and selling medicines and related health supplies.

Chumakov
The Chumakov Center was established in 1955 as the Institute of Poliomyelitis and Viral Encephalitis, which combined research laboratories with vaccine manufacturing facilities. The Center was created by Dr. Mikhail Chumakov who at the end of 1950s organized the first production of oral polio vaccine from strains developed by Dr. Albert Sabin and demonstrated its safety and effectiveness. The vaccine was exported to more than 60 countries and stopped massive outbreaks of poliomyelitis in Eastern Europe and Japan. Our research in other areas of virology resulted in the development of several other vaccines, such as vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis, canine distemper virus, and others.

Chiesi Farmaceutici
The company was founded in Parma in 1935 when Giacomo Chiesi, a chemist who dreamed of doing research, bought the Laboratorio Farmaceutico Parmense and embarked on his entrepreneurial adventure.
In the early forties the laboratory started to expand and sell its products abroad, exporting drugs to Eritrea and Austria. However, in 1944 the war broke out and part of the company was destroyed during a bombing raid, bringing all activities to a stop until the war ended.
When the laboratory resumed its activities, the first scientific collaborator was hired and Chiesi launched its first penicillin-based ointment. At the time, Giacomo Chiesi was considering buying some land to build a real factory. The new pharmaceutical factory was launched in 1955, had 50 employees and manufactured an extensive range of successful drugs.
